Colorful Pattern Bookmark

An easy to make, colorful bookmark

Okay you say, what's this about? A bookmark? You press Ctrl+D in your browser to create one?

No! This is about REAL bookmarks for REAL books ... 

 

What you need:

Take a piece of paper/paperboard and cut it to the size you want your bookmark to be.

Also make several narrow paperboard stripes of different colors. Trim them so that their length matches the size of the smaller side of your bookmark.

 

Then fold it in half and make several long cuts, like shown in the following illustration:

 

Unfold you bookmark again.

Now take one of your small paperboard stripes and push it through the the first cut of your cardboard from above, then the second from below and so on. Do the same thing with the second stripe, starting from below this time. A colorful regular pattern now starts building up:

 

Continue until the whole cuts are filled up with stripes. That's it!  

In case your stripes are too loose, fix them with a bit of glue at each end.
