When Gummi Bears Grow Up

A fun science experiment

Put gummi bears into a glass of water.

Wait a couple of hours.

They grow to about the double size!

In the video the grown gummi bear looks a bit dissolved, but that's just because of the bubbles that have built up around it. When you put it out of the water you see that it still has its original shape. Just the size has doubled.

Gummi bears consist mostly of gelatine, which can store quite some water. This makes the bears grow. You can still eat them afterwards although they lost nearly all of their taste.
