Crazy Sentences - The Game

Preparation:

• Take a large sheet of paper
  
• Draw a grid with 5 columns and several rows
• In every field in the 1st column, write a "1", in every field in the 2nd column a "2" and so on
• Now write down sentences with the following scheme
  

1. A name ("John"), a person ("The bus driver") or an animal ("Jane' cat")
2. a transitive verb (like "found")
3. an article and one or more adjectives ("a colorful")
4. a noun ("painting")
5. where? or when? ("in our backyard" or "after lunch")

  Sounds complicated, but it's really easy. Look at the following example

The most fun you will get with using crazy sentences like the last two.

• Last part of preparation: Cut the sheet of paper along the grid lines

Now for the game. Here are the rules:

• Every player get 3 small pieces of paper
• New sentences are now formed starting with a (1) paper, continuing with (2) and so on. After a sentence is complete (5), start a new one until all pieces of paper are used up
• The youngest player begins
• If the player has a fitting piece of paper, he/she lays it down. If not he/she takes a new one from the pile of unused papers. If the new one fits, he/she lays it down. The next player continues

Taking the examples above you could get sentences like:

    Jane sat on a green, slimy creature in the garden.

    Grandma found a red dotted bicycle in the pizza dough.
